Introduction

“People think you need to be angry to enjoy the experience. It’s good for stress and fun”-Bethany

Behind the doors of RageAway is the Johnson family, whose vision for creating a safe and fun environment has brought something truly special to our community. RageAway opened in March 2024 and has been growing and attracting attention from local counties and even as far out as Milledgeville.

Jax, Bethany, and Kyle have dedicated their time to giving the members of our community and the surrounding counties something fun and new to do with their free time. RageAway is a truly unique business, and the Griffin+Spalding Chamber of Commerce would like to spotlight this new and thriving small business. Jax is the young entrepreneur who spearheaded and runs RageAway. His parents have helped support and shape his dream.

About

“Providing something that brings joy”-Jax

Located at 533 N Expy, Griffin, GA 30223, RageAway is a rage room where you can go to relieve your stress, experience something new and exhilarating, and just break stuff. Let’s be honest we’ve all wanted to break something every now and then, but now, we have a place where we can break things without having to clean it up or worry about getting in trouble with our loved ones or law enforcement. Jax and his family desired to create a welcoming, fun, and safe place for the people of Griffin to release their pent-up frustrations without having to worry about everything else that comes with it like cleaning and destruction of property charges.

RageAway obtains a lot of the items they use via donations from the community, the Salvation Army, and estate sells. They also receive a good portion of items from the Barnesville VFW thanks to Bethany’s father who spends time there. In the future RageAway plans to collaborate with local thrift stores to help support the local community.

“Break stuff without consequences”-Kyle

One of the Johnson family’s favorite parts about their business is the joy that it brings to customers. Jax and his mother delight in the joy and fun that their customers experience. They enjoy hearing the cheers and emotions everyone experiences as they let loose and release whatever has been ailing them. RageAway has given Jax the opportunity to meet new people in the area. Jax stated “There are plenty of people who have become friends”.

Why visit

“People are looking for experiences rather than stuff”-Jax

Have you ever wanted to break things and not deal with the consequences? Even if you haven’t Griffin has the perfect place for you go. RageAway is a novel experience and a first in Griffin. As the years have went on Griffin has lost many of it’s fun activities to do throughout the week like bowling and axe throwing. Several staples like the skating rink and movies are still around, but sometimes you need something out of the box to do. RageAway fits that bill perfectly. Whether you are bored, angry, grieving, happy, or indifferent you’ll find a sense of novelty and catharsis after raging and smashing at RageAway.

“No rage necessary”-Kyle

RageAway has two rage rooms that can hold up to two people each and a paint room where you can splatter paint to your heart’s content.

Earlier this year, a few of the ambassadors for the Griffin+Spalding Chamber of Commerce gathered at RageAway. The experience was fun, exciting, and cathartic. A few of the ambassadors even felt like they had gotten a good workout after they were done destroying all their items.

“It’s an experience like none other”-Jax

Jax and his family have even had couples come to RageAway for dates. They shared that families and groups have come to RageAway after experiencing tragedies, to celebrate birthdays, and to process trauma.

Experience with the Chamber

“So far really good”

The Johnson family was informed about the Griffin+Spalding Chamber of Commerce by Art and Debbie Hammond while the Johnsons were laying down the groundwork for RageAway.

Jax and his mother’s first event with the Griffin+Spalding Chamber of Commerce was the Coffee and Connection on May 14, 2024. RageAway had their ribbon cutting on September 6, 2024.

They haven’t been able to attend a lot of the events hosted by the chamber, but they have formed relationships with several of the members of the chamber. While at the Coffee and Connection event they connected with a marketing company that they would go on to work with and they connected several other businesses that have clientele that could benefit from RageAway. Their relationship with the marketing company has helped improve their sales and visibility within the community and outside.

RageAway was gracious enough to host the first ambassador outing for 2025! Some of the ambassadors who attending the gathering are planning to return later this year for a date night!
