We would like to invite you to join us at the 2020 Southern Nationals Disc Golf Festival in Griffin, Georgia. The
10 day disc golf festival will run from May 15th to May 24th and will be played at Wyomia Tyus Park, Dundee
Lake Park and our 2 newest courses near the Green Valley Industrial Park. There will also be a full scale disc
golf pro shop for anything disc golf related or just to scoop up your favorite 2020 Southern Nationals
Championships gear. Even if you are not a player, you can come watch the top disc golfers in the south
compete for this prestigious title.
This disc golf event is unlike other tournaments, as there are many ways to participate. The first weekend, we
are kicking off with the Green Valley Open (5/16-17) to be hosted at the new Green Valley Disc Golf Course.
We will also be using a spectacular new temporary course at the same facility to allow for over 150 players
from all over the south to participate. This event is open to everyone.
During the weekdays after the Green Valley Open (5/18-22) we will be hosting daily flex start events at the
local Griffin courses. Players of all skill levels can come participate in one of the daily events, anytime between
the allotted time of day to compete for fun and prizes. We expect hundreds of players to attend these ancillary
events as well to come and shop.
The main event, The Southern Nationals Disc Golf Championships (5/23-24) will feature players coming to
Griffin from all over the Southern region of the US to compete for the championship. It is also 1 of only 25
qualifiers in the world for the United States Disc Golf Championship, which is our sport’s pinnacle event. This
ensures that many of the best disc golfers in the south will be coming to Griffin for their chance to get into the
USDGC. We are expecting to be at full capacity for this event at 300 players. The tournament requires that
players have previously qualified for this event by competing in Southern National qualifiers in 2019.
This ten day festival will bring over 1000 disc golfers to Griffin to play our courses, compete in our events and
shop our pro shop. It will also bring in their economic impact to the City of Griffin and Spalding County by
putting heads in hotel beds and shopping at local retailers.
We are seeking support from the local businesses. We are especially interested in food and entertainment
establishments that would be willing to include discount coupons and direct sponsorship, so that we can guide
our players to their businesses. We also will be giving each player a caddy book that includes all the event info
and is a great place for advertising for our sponsors. For a small donation to the event, we can promote your
local business in print and all of our social media.
