A farce with a murder-mystery plot is the perfect gift for the holidays. Ken Ludwig (playwright of the hysterical Leading Ladies last year) introduces us to the star, William Gilette, a famous actor who is world renowned for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. Gilette has invited some of his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death the festivities quickly turn dangerous. Then it is up to Gilette himself, as he presumes the persona of his beloved Holmes to track down the killer before the next victim appears.

Ludwig’s play was the winner of the Mystery Writer’s of America Edgar Award for Best Play, and we think you will find it a fantastically fun night out at the theatre. Set in an isolated house of tricks and mirrors, the danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

Steve Martin rejoins his MSP family in the title role of William Gilette. Other MSP favorites include Karen Beyer as Martha Gilette; Christopher Gansel as Felix Geisel; Heather Shepherd as Madge Geisel; Will Pitts as Simon Bright; Elise Wright as Aggie Wheeler; Carla Cloud as Inspector Goring and Jill Shedd as Daria Chase. BJ Hughes, resident scenic designer for MSP, also directs. As always Franky Dansby serves as master carpenter and Norma Richardson will design the costumes for this production set in 1936. Nate Barnes will provide lighting and Scott Welborn, newcomer to MSP, will design and execute the sound for this entertainment. Keith Potter serves as the play's stage manager and Janice Aiken is production assistant.

The Game’s Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays will run Wednesday, November 13th through Sunday, November 24th. Wednesday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM, with Sunday matinee performances at 3:00 PM. To buy tickets, contact the Main Street Players box office -770-229-9916.
